Soley’s music is like looking at the world through a mournful, translucent skin. The words are crooned, Leonard Cohen-style; yet it is the gentle, but melodic music that threads most of the weave of this musical skin. It is true that the music stutters much more than the words, but it is this nervous energy which builds up the songs.
Soley is a writer and an artist as much as a composer. Although she is Icelandic, there is a section of her website dedicated to ‘writings’.
The tragically indie nature of her songs has landed their inclusion in several TV soundtracks, and even more fan-made videos.
